For those of you who I haven't updated - Daisy has been having liver issues. I took her in for a routine teeth cleaning and her liver enzymes tested high. After subsequent testing, an ultrasound and several hundred dollars in vet bills we learned that Daisy had a congenital defect - a small liver. The vet wasn't sure how serious it was and if she would need surgery (several thousand dollars), or if we could correct the problem with a prescription low protein liver diet. We placed her on a low protein diet about a month ago and I took her in for follow up testing yesterday. Now for the good news - she passed with flying colors!! The diet is working, so no severe issues. We'll just need to monitor her blood work annually. Yeah!!!Daisy LOVES paper - newspaper, ads, mail, bills - you name it. If we leave it lying out, she will plop right on top of it. The picture above was her "helping" me cut out coupons.

So glad she's okay! It's a good thing because in a few days she's going to fall a little lower on the priority list...sad but true!
ReplyDeleteYea Daisy! If she ever feels like second fiddle, you can send her here to play with Sadie. Hey, can she teach Sadie to cut coupons? It's about time that dog starts to carry her weight around here. Hasn't she heard we're in a recession? Geez...
