Caitlyn's First Flight

So Brian, the rug rat and I headed off to California on Friday for his sister's college graduation.  I have to say, the worst part was getting everything through security.  The long, metal table you put your stuff on for the x-ray machine - yeah, we had the entire thing filled with our crap.  Her infant seat, stroller, diaper bag, luggage, etc.  Brian had the enviable job of trying to cram everything onto the conveyer belt while I held Caitlyn and apologized to the long line of people behind us.  There were a few tense moments when I gave Caitlyn her bottle a little too early on take off and was starting to run out.  But I have to say, Caitlyn did awesome - she slept almost the whole way and wasn't fussy at all.  She was our super trooper.  When we got there she got to meet her Papa and Aunt Katie for the first time.  They instantly fell in love of course.  After an early morning wake up call for an 8:30 graduation (who planned that?) - we had a great time.  The graduation was outside - got to love the CA weather!  It was beautiful, especially after leaving the 100 degree day we left in Texas.  Less than 48 hours later we were on our flight back home and Caitlyn was equally awesome on the way back.

As for Brian and I, we're gluttons for punishment.  We're flying to Houston for Father's Day weekend.  Let's hope our "perfect" travel baby remains that way... (I'm desperately hoping I haven't jinxed us).

  1. My guess is she'll continue to be an awesome flier until she's mobile...and doesn't sleep as much during the day. So, you have about 7 more good months!

  3. I am so proud of you guys! Yeah, the conveyor belt... you finally empty all the crap out of the stroller, take the baby out of it, break it down, hoist it onto the conveyor belt, and then the lady says, "Ma'am. Don't forget your shoes."

  4. Oh my gosh! It is so funny you said that! That exact thing happened to me on our way there. I just looked at her like, are you kidding me? Did you not just see the 8 bins we have go through. They're just rubber flip flops.
