6 Months in Review

Caitlyn had her 6 month check up on Friday and I'm happy to report that she has continued to gain weight. She jumped from the 10th percentile in weight two months ago up to the 22nd percentile. She's just shy of doubling her birth weight. Her doctor said everything looks good and we got the go ahead to start solid foods. The only caveat, she needs to be eating high protein, high fat foods to continue bulking up. So meats, avocado and food mixed with olive oil and almond butter will be on the menu. This could get interesting and very, very messy. Oh, and no teeth yet although she is chewing and drooling.

It's hard to believe our little sweet pea turned 6 months old yesterday. She's getting so big and increasingly mobile. She is rolling all over the place and can even scoot forwards and backwards a few inches at a time. She doesn't really stay on her playmat for long anymore, rolling off to chew on a toy or sometimes even our leather recliner. She is definitely going to be fast when she learns how to crawl. She still loves her jumperoo and, in fact, just loves to bounce anytime, anywhere. She is very independent, playing on her own for long stretches of time. She can entertain herself with whatever we have lying around - paper, plastic wrappers or even a spoon. She continues to be really talkative and will burst out in giggles. She adores Daisy and seeing her makes her smile no matter how fussy she's being. Daisy is even starting to tolerate her a little more, letting herself be pet (the treats I've been giving her help too). Caitlyn's big little personality is emerging and she really interacts and engages with us. She has such a sunny disposition and is usually happy and well behaved - even on prolonged shopping excursions, when traveling or during meals out- she has really spoiled us and set the bar high for future children.
