I have been preparing Caitlyn for her first meal all week, putting her in the highchair and giving her a spoon to play with to get her used to the experience. After getting the ok from her pediatrician on Friday, Brian and I sat down to give Caitlyn her very first meal the day she turned 6 months old. Her doctor wanted her to start out with meat but I figured a baby wouldn't want plain pureed meat for their first meal (although I'm sure it's a step up from formula). So Caitlyn had turkey mixed with sweet potatoes. As you can tell from the pictures and video, it didn't go over all too well. She didn't really want to open her mouth and the faces she made were priceless, like "You expect me to eat this?" She took a few bites and then started fussing - her first meal had ended as quickly as it began. This morning went much better, although blowing raspberries isn't as cute with food in her mouth, and by this evening she was opening her mouth like a pro. She almost finished both jars. Hmmm, maybe turkey isn't so bad after all.
