Straight from the Storks Nest: It's a beautiful day in Horseshoe Bay

Brian's law firm has an annual golf/spa retreat for their attorneys and their spouses. This year they were celebrating the firm's 20th anniversary and decided to go all out with a weekend in Horseshoe Bay on Lake LBJ. We were lucky enough to have Steve, Patrice and Katie fly in and help watch the kids so we could attend some of the firm events. Katie actually flew down to Dallas so she could drive with me and the kids down there (Brian drove separately). It was probably the most fun we've ever had at a firm event - the alcohol was flowing - and we went to two dinners, hung out at the bar, took wave runners out and played putt putt. It was almost (almost but not quite) like before we had children.

Even better was spending time with Nana, Papa and Aunt Katie. The weather wasn't too cooperative - it was really cloudy most of the time - but at least it wasn't too hot and Caitlyn had a blast at the beach and the pool. But her favorite thing to do was hang out at the pond outside our condo and check out the fish, turtles and frogs. After a few days at the lake, I let Brian have some much needed down time while I took everyone back to the airport. We even had time to meet with their cousin Mary for lunch. We stayed one extra night so we could spread out the travel time and then headed back to reality. We had a great time but it was definitely exhausting getting everything ready and packed for three little ones plus myself. The sheer volume of what we had to take with us was insane. When we got home, it almost felt like we needed a vacation from our vacation, and Chase and Emmy were so spoiled by all the attention it took a good three days for them to get back in a routine. It was a nice get away but I don't think we'll be planning another vacation any time soon.
