Last month we decided it was time to make a trip to Houston again to see Beanie and visit Great Gerndad. He and the ladies at his retirement community have been anxiously waiting for us to come visit again. Suffice to say it is no easy task to get this crew packed and ready for a trip anywhere, much less when you're staying for a prolonged period of time. Somehow we managed and, with everything completely crammed in, set out for Houston. It also so happened to be our 10th wedding anniversary. While eating dinner at Denny's in Corsicana with three wiggly and fussy children, Brian and I could honestly say that we never envisioned spending our 10th anniversary that way.
Caitlyn was super excited to be seeing Beanie and loved all the dress up gear she had ready for her. Nobody has heels and jewelry like Beanie! We went to the Children's Museum the next morning, which is probably the coolest museum I've been to. Caitlyn had a blast exploring probably about 1/10th of what there was to see. In the afternoon, we met up again with the Raney's - this time just Cathy and 2 out of the 5 kids I used to babysit for, Elise and Kyle. The twins were enamored with them and it's always great catching up with the Raney's. That night, Beanie was sweet enough to stay home with the kiddos so we could go out and celebrate our anniversary. Sunday morning we met up with Great Gerndad before Brian had to fly back to Dallas. I packed up the kids Monday morning and drove up to Kingwood to visit my very best friend for a few days.
On a side note, after much deliberation, Brian and I decided to leave Daisy with Beanie in Houston. With three kids all over the place, I've had to leave her in her crate most of the time since she barks and wakes them up or snatches food from them (which tends to make her sick). Unbeknownst to us, Beanie had been looking at dogs and graciously agreed to take in her "gern-dog" instead. She has a huge backyard and can give Daisy tons of love and attention. It was really sad for us to leave her behind but we're happy knowing that she's getting the attention she needs. Our hope is that when the kids get older we can bring Daisy back home.
