15 months in review - Part 2

Emerson has become our little spitfire.  As Brian likes to say, she's full of piss and vinegar.  She is definitely the leader of the two and has no problem taking Chase or even Caitlyn out.  Unfortunately some of this spunk has manifested into biting and hair pulling.  I've already had to put her in timeout several times in an effort to curb this behavior.  She is a miniature steamroller and I can sense she's going to be giving us a run for our money.  She loves looking at books and playing with the kitchen where she stirs and bakes.  She also goes through the cabinets pulling out bowls and plates that she takes to the picnic table where she pretends to make food and eat.  She likes to carry a purse around and loves pushing her baby dolls in the stroller or talking on the phone.

Emmy is a total mommy's girl.  She will follow me around and pull on my leg trying to get me to pick her up.  I've taken to sitting on the floor because if I sit in a chair or on the couch she has to be there with me and will proceed to climb all over me.  She still experiences some stranger anxiety, but it seems to be mainly when she's tired.  She has also become a major climber.  I turn my head for a second only to find her sitting on anywhere from the coffee table to the TV stand.  She may be short, but she has a tenacious grip and seems to scale things with ease.  She's pretty much down to one nap a day and she doesn't seem to need sleep as much as her brother does.  She can take a quick catnap in the car and be raring to go.  One of my favorite things is still watching her and Chase interact.  They "talk" to each other, rough house and even mimic what the other is doing, causing them to break into hysterics.

In terms of milestones, Emerson took her first steps around 14 months old.  It didn't take long for her to get her walking legs and she is now on the run.  One of her first molars has come in bringing her number of teeth to nine.  In addition to saying no, yeah and mama, she now says ball, tickle, all done and milk and she can sign eat.  At her 15 month check up she was 30 inches tall (33%) and weighs 20 pounds, 13.5 ounces (18%).  She's just half an inch shorter and one pound heavier than Caitlyn was at the same age.  Our petite little girl has finally outgrown her infant seat.

Favorites: carrying a purse, playing in the kitchen, her seahorse, books, climbing, blueberry waffles, raisins, meat, causing mischief in general, saying "no"

Dislikes: time out, broccoli, being told what to do
