Date Night

Finally! After almost 5 months, Brian and I finally had our first real night out on the town sans Caitlyn. We recently joined the YMCA and they have a monthly Saturday date night from 4-9pm for $15. What a deal! Needless to say, Brian and I have been looking forward to this night for weeks. As 4pm rolled around we pulled up to the Y to drop Caitlyn off. Brian took it much harder than I thought he would, refusing to even come inside. He couldn't handle the trauma of leaving her. I love being home with her every day, but after 5 months I was more than ready for a break so I wasn't quite as traumatized. After dropping her off Brian took some really deep breaths (it was actually a little closer to hyperventilation) and tried to push it out of his mind for 5 hours.

We went to the movies (we recommend Extract only as a rental - sorry Michael Judge, this was no Office Space), then got to have a quiet, romantic meal at an Italian restaurant with a nice outdoor patio. And I am happy to report that we were able to carry on adult conversation without talking about baby stuff. It was great being able to have a relaxing meal but also weird not having Caitlyn with us. After some gelato we headed back to the Y to pick up our darling, dimpled daughter.

Caitlyn survived in one piece, but Brian almost had a heart attack when the girl watching her said her eyes must be itchy because she kept rubbing them. Brian freaked out (once we were in the privacy of our car) "The poor kid's exhausted, she doesn't have allergies. Even I know that! Where do they find these people?" It looks like he'll still be staying in the car when we drop her off next time.

Barely able to keep her eyes open
