Chase and Emerson waiting for their bottles
I cannot believe how much more quickly time goes by when you have three kids. It's been a little hectic this past month and I definitely feel as if I'm getting pulled in a million different directions, but these sweet monkeys are worth it. Both Chase and Emerson seem to be developing blue eyes - what are the odds of all three kids having light eyes? While they were born with dark hair, they are both starting to lose it so who knows what it will end up looking like. Caitlyn had a shock of very dark brown hair when she was born and look at her now. Both have really good head and neck control, although Emerson seems a bit stronger (that may just be because she has less to move around). In terms of sleep, they've been waking up twice a night, between 2-4am and 6:30-8:30am. Not too shabby all things considered. Emerson has a much harder time falling back asleep and has kept me up a few nights, but all in all I know I'm pretty lucky. Patrice was a huge help during her stay, getting up in the mornings with Caitlyn so I could eke out a few more hours and Brian has been taking a shift on weekend nights.
Their personalities, while not fully formed, are definitely starting to emerge. Chase is pretty chill most of the time and is a great sleeper at night. He is constantly smiling and laughing in his sleep. He is all boy - tooting and burping with the best of them while Emerson is silent but deadly. Emerson is very alert, taking her time looking all around and she is definitely a spitfire - even the pediatrician thinks so. A nickname for her remains elusive, but Chase has already been affectionately dubbed Mr. Magoo for all his forehead wrinkles. He looks like a little old man. It's hard to believe a month has already passed, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the two of them interact and having their personalities come out full force.
