Two months in review

Chase & Emerson - 2 months old

Chase and Emerson turned two months old yesterday (wow, that was fast!). So here I am, up late, trying to remember every thing I can about this dynamic duo.

Chase is our little old man, or Mr. Magoo. He's been doing great recovering from his surgery and has put on 3.5 pounds in the last three weeks since! He is weighing in at a whopping 12 pounds, 1/2 ounce (65%) and is a little on the short side at 22.25 inches (28%). He's totally becoming a little hoss and is definitely making up for lost time with his eating. He is super sweet and loves to be cuddled - constantly. He has a much harder time during the day, particularly between 5-9pm and will often cry the full four hours unless I have him in the wrap. But, once you put him down for the night, he sleeps just like his daddy - like a log. The last few nights he has slept for 9-11 hours. Now if I can just get Emerson on that schedule! He likes laying and taking naps on his tummy and he enjoys the swing and the wrap but tends to fuss in the bounce chair.

Emerson is a total sweet pea and is always quick to smile. She was much tinier than Chase or even Caitlyn was when she was born, but she's finally caught up. She weighed in at 10 pounds, 4 ounces (37%) and 21.75 inches (30%). She is a total wiggler and sometimes spaz. She is a happy baby and is completely chill during the day. At night, it becomes a different story. She definitely doesn't sleep as well as her brother does or older sister did at that age. She's sleeping 5-6 hours at night but sometimes has a hard time falling asleep at first or after her nighttime feeding (it can take her up to an hour and a half to doze off on top of the hour it takes me to feed them both). She is freakishly strong and has been holding her head up for weeks and doing little push ups when on her tummy. Her favorite spots are hanging in the swing or in the bounce chair.

Both are eating 6x per day. Chase will chug a bottle down in 20 minutes while Emerson will nurse it for 40 or more. That's not so bad during the day, but at 3am not so much. It's definitely more difficult to manage them than it was with Caitlyn and we've really gotten used to a lot of crying since we can't always pay attention to both at the same time. All in all it's been twice as challenging, but also twice as fun. I am really looking forward to seeing their personalities emerge in the coming months and to watch Caitlyn's reaction to them as they get more interactive. She already gets a huge kick out of seeing them smile at her.

I love this picture - Caitlyn too busy with her lollipop while Emerson cries and Chase yawns
