Riding in Megan's double stroller (a great triple stroller in a pinch) with Catie and Brandon
In a moment of insanity and not wanting to let the fact that I have three kids under the age of three keep me down, I decided to take all the kiddos to the State Fair. We went last year and Caitlyn had a good time but I figured that she would enjoy it even more being older. A big thank you goes to Megan for bringing her larger double stroller so Caitlyn could ride along. As I had expected, Caitlyn had a great time. She actually participated in the Hands on the Farm exhibit this year - picking fruit and veggies and feeding the animals - and they have a great petting zoo with more exotic animals like kangaroos and zebras. My biggest complaint? They don't allow strollers in either of these areas. If Megan wasn't there to help out it would have been impossible for me to do them. Even with her help, it wasn't exactly easy. I only have one carrier so we had to carry one of the babies while trying to keep an eye on three toddlers. No easy task!
We went on to have some food samples at the Food Expo (who doesn't love free ice cream?), and a visit to the fair wouldn't be complete without cotton candy and trying some fried concoction. We tried the fried pizza, not as good as it sounds, and decided it's probably better to stick to the fried sweets. Last year we had a fried peanut butter cup with a coconut macaroon and it was divine. I thought the rides were going to be a bust when Caitlyn got on and then got off one. But after riding the train, she decided she loved rides and promptly went on two of the scarier toddler rides. That's my girl! With all of our tickets gone, she kept asking "Nother ride?" All in all it was pretty exhausting, but it was well worth it.
