A party fit for a monkey doodle

The birthday girl

Last weekend we celebrated Caitlyn's second birthday a few weeks early. Since I'm getting progressively bigger and more uncomfortable, plus with Caitlyn's birthday falling on Easter this year and not knowing if the twins might make an early appearance, we decided it would be best to get the party started. Since Caitlyn has been affectionately named our monkey doodle (a moniker I'm sure she will love the older she gets) we decided to go with a monkey theme. Some of Brian's family was able to make it into town plus we had a few neighborhood friends over to help us celebrate. Family, friends and good food always equals a good time. My favorite part of the party was when we turned up the music and got to watch the kids really bust a move. Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures, but there is video documentation I look forward to watching for years to come. It was much different this year, with Caitlyn actually opening several gifts on her own but she was still a little overwhelmed and I ended up having to help her along. And I was really surprised when she dug into her cake (she's not much of a cake eater).

I'm going to close by giving a big thank you to Patrice, Katie, Mary and Steve for helping with all the details and especially the clean up and dinner afterwards. It was a huge relief to my pregnant feet to be able to rest after the party. So thank you all for helping to make Caitlyn's day so special!
